Magic Christmas Roses

I work at a spiritual bookstore and before Christmas, the owner was given 2 dozen roses by two different people. The roses wilted and faded, as they do when you've had them for over a week, and she was going to throw them out, but decided to offer them to me. I took them home Christmas Eve. They had been out of water for most of the day and that night, I put them in my Christmas Tree, because I thought they looked kind of cool in a dried up kind of way.
Right after midnight on Christmas Eve, both sets reversed death and re-bloomed. They opened up big and wide and regained all of their color. They stayed that way until after the sun came up on Christmas Day.
I shared this story with my mom and gave her some of the rose petals. She exclaimed by saying, "Oooh, that's creepy!"
Now, here's the interesting thing. My mom has a rosebush that was given to her by her father, my grandfather, a few years before he passed away. It never blooms unless somebody dies in our family. Then it will bloom one rose for that person. So I said to her, "Okay, these are magic Christmas roses. You have creepy Grandpa roses, which only bloom when somebody's going to die. Please!" I was laughing when I said this and she laughed too and put the rose petals in a special, tiny vase.

Alligators on an alligator farm

Stuff

I hung out with my crazy, Cajun friend Mary today. She's like a lot of people I know who don't see an accurate view of themselves. She has a lot of ambitions and has achieved just about everything she's set her mind to, but doesn't see that about herself. She grew up in the swamps in Louisiana in a wooden shack with a hole in the wall that snakes would crawl in through. Plus, when it flooded, she had to wade to school in 3 feet of swamp water to get to school. Her nearest neighbor owned an alligator farm and was always worried his alligators would drown when it flooded. (Yes, I too didn't know alligators could drown, but apparently they need to be able to go up on land once in awhile). So, this guy would let his alligators loose. Her school was two miles down the road through this alligator-infested swamp. I can't ever complain about how I get to a class again.

Time of the Sixth Sun

There's an Indie film called Time of the Sixth sun about the Mayan calendar and the expansion of consciousness that's supposed to happen in 2012. Most films are made with the help of a few wealthy investors contributing to it to fund the project. These people are doing it in an entirely different, unique way. Instead of finding 13 investors that will fund $100,000 a piece, they're looking for 130,000 individual people to donate whatever they can. In turn, these people get listed as contributors on their website. Barack Obama raised a ton of money for his campaign by appealing to the average Joe for 5, 10, 20 bucks or whatever they could afford, and his campaign raised more money than McCain's.
I love this idea! I met a producer once for a film that was being done on ASU's campus and he said most investors for movies are orthodontists, or lawyers - not artists. And because they're backing the project, they'll want their girlfriend - who's never had an acting lesson in her life - to be the star. And since they're ponying up the bucks, they get it.
You get to call your own shots if you do it the other way - where you have a lot of smaller investors. Plus, I love the holistic quality to this idea. It's really about creating a community, which is why I think Obama is so popular - because the people really put him in office. We counted as individuals, because he valued what we could give - even if it was only 5 bucks.

This guy cracks me up. I'm a fan on his Facebook page.

Chocolate Cupcakes

I just had the best chocolate cupcake from Wildflower. I really like it when you can taste the chocolate first and then the sugar. Most of the time, it's the other way around.
Tomorrow, the 23rd is supposed to be one of the luckiest days of the year, according to astrological sources (I check out Susan Miller's site on www.astrologyzone.com)
The whole weekend is supposed to be super cool according to her.

Shooting Star

I saw a shooting star tonight. I haven't seen one in years. Generally, when I go outside, I always look up at the sky first. That's how I saw it. And I have to admit, I was at a loss for what to wish for. That was weird. I have so many things pressing on me right now, but a shooting star is so special. What kind of wish could I make to honor it?

Chocolate Table

When I do the chocolate divination, this is what my table looks like. I painted this several years ago. It has twelve different fairytales painted on it - each one representing a month of the year.

Gaza Strip Rainbow

Isn't this beautiful? This rainbow showed up after the cease fire. I really hope we can get it together as a species. I don't live over there, so I won't stand in judgement of either side. I've had friends from both sides of that fence. My parents are from the South and when my dad learned about the Civil War in a small town in Alabama, it wasn't called that. It was called the War of Northern Aggression.
Here's a new of view of things: what if everybody is right? According to the Laws of Magick, if it's a paradox, it must be true.

Why It's Chocolate and Football

I hope the Cardinals make it to the Super Bowl. I haven't read their truffles to see if they do.

Chocolate and Football

Hi Everyone,
I really like how easy it is to use this site. It totally rocks. I went to a workshop today at Changing Hands in Tempe, Arizona and they said blogging is a great to connect with other people, so I'm giving it a shot.
I'm an artist and I create pastel portraits of people's soul signatures. I also divine the future using chocolate truffles. These are pics of my setup at Chakra 4 Herb and Teahouse where all the deliciousness happens.
